Artifacts Museum - Flint : Paleo

The Paleo period ( as it exists in Missouri ) is generally excepted to be between 11,500 B.P. - 10,000 B.P. These dates are always subject to archaeological debate. This period is defined by its early fluted projectile technology. Large game were killed with these projectiles and virtually every part of the animal was harvested for use. These people wandered following the game they harvested and set up small temporary camps. This tradition died out with the extinction of the megafauna. There are also a few Trans- Paleo pieces shown in this section.
