Artifacts Museum - Flint : Middle Archaic

The Middle Archaic period ( as it exists in Missouri ) is generally excepted to be between 7,000 B.P. - 4000 B.P. This period coincides with the warm and dry climatic conditions of the time. It is believed that prairies expanded at the expense of the forested regions. Deer herds may have decreased, and the Middle Archaic diet included greater amounts of fish, rabbits, birds and other small game.
